SHHE Membership Agreement - Updated June 28, 2023

I understand and accept that a condition of membership to the Sacred Heart Home Educators (SHHE) is loyalty to the Holy Catholic Church, the Magisterium, the Pope and local Bishops, and that my family is active and practicing in full communion with the Catholic Church according to the precepts of the Church as set forth in paragraphs 2041-2043 in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. My family, through the Grace and Mercy of God, strives to live an authentic Catholic lifestyle in accordance with the teachings handed down to us from the Apostles, as witnessed by the saints, and as proclaimed by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. In addition, I have read and agree to the Bylaws of Sacred Heart Home Educators, the general, forum, and communication guidelines, and the Code of Ethics as posted on the website.

I understand that my annual membership fee grants me access to the SHHE website and forums, a membership directory, and a list of SHHE events from which I may select activities in which my family would like to participate, and that additional fees may be charged as a condition of participation. I understand that as a SHHE member, my family is covered under SHHE's Liability Insurance for all SHHE-sponsored Events. I understand that SHHE is an organization run entirely by volunteers, and the contribution of my time and talents supports and aids the success of individual families and our group as a whole. I understand that membership runs from approximately July 1 through June 30 (or until re-registration information is sent out by SHHE) and that specific times and dates for the above-referenced activities will be broadcast via email, website, or calendar postings. I further understand that SHHE reserves the right to change or cancel any events.

I understand that our attire should not cause sin or scandal. Modest dress is expected at all official and member-sponsored SHHE events and activities (i.e. no low-cut shirts/blouses, mini-skirts, short shorts, half or crop tops, tube tops, or any other overly revealing clothing, etc.). Profanity or obscenity on clothing is scandalous and is prohibited.

I understand that when participating in member-sponsored events or official SHHE-sponsored events, we are representing our entire homeschool community and the Catholic Church. This means that we should always ensure our families are respectful of the facilities we use (Churches, parks, homes, and other venues). When leaving the event, the venue should be returned to its original setup and appear as it did upon arrival. We should also be respectful of the start and end times of SHHE events.

I understand that the President of SHHE is the official liaison between the Diocese of Phoenix and the members of SHHE in matters relating to SHHE as a group. I will submit problems or recommendations concerning SHHE to him/her before contacting the Diocese myself. I give the President of SHHE my permission to represent my interest concerning SHHE activities at any and all meetings with the Diocese and its representatives. I understand that concerns or complaints may arise, and if they do, I agree to practice the biblical principles of bringing them directly to individuals involved, my Chapter Head, and the Board when necessary. I will maintain respect for the dignity and privacy of SHHE members, and I understand that using social media or other outside communications to broadcast matters of conflict internal to the group will not be tolerated. Slander, libel, or uncharitable commentary directed at a member or the group as a whole could result in suspension or removal from SHHE.

I understand that as participants in any and all SHHE activities, my family and I agree to protect, indemnify, and hold harmless SHHE, its officers, and volunteers from any and all claims, losses, costs, damages, or expenses arising out of or from any accident or other occurrence related to these activities.

SHHE Media & Photo Release 2025/2026

I hereby authorize and grant my consent to Sacred Heart Home Educators (SHHE) to use my name, voice, and/or my likeness or my children’s names, voices, or likenesses, in photographs, films, videotapes or other media during and in connection with my children’s participation in SHHE activities, coops, or events, and to use my children’s pictures, voices, or likenesses on the SHHE website, in SHHE publications and promotional materials, or in any other media or publication without further compensation or permission.

I further authorize SHHE and its agents to edit any recordings of my children’s likenesses and/or voices and incorporate any such recordings into print publications, electronic publications, software, movie and sound films or tapes, broadcasts (radio and television), programs or otherwise, and to use and license others to use such publications, recordings, software, movie and sound films and tapes and broadcast programs in any manner of media whatsoever, including unrestricted use for purposes of publicity, information, advertising and sale promotion. I understand that SHHE exclusively owns all rights to these recordings irrespective of the form in which they are produced or used. I further agree to indemnify and hold SHHE, its Board, licensees, and agents harmless from and against any claims and liability for damages, losses or expenses of any kind arising from the making or use of any recordings, including, without limitation, claims with respect to my children’s privacy or publicity. I have read and understand the contents hereof, and have the right and authority to execute this release and to give this indemnification.

I understand that this Release is to be interpreted under the laws of the state of Arizona without resort to its conflict of laws rules, and I hereby submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of the state of Arizona with respect to any action arising under this Release.

Parent/Guardian Consent

I am the parent or legal guardian of all children listed in my family profile. I have the legal right to consent to and do consent to the terms and conditions of this Release.

Current Safe Environment Training Status

Sacred Heart Home Educators require that at least one parent in each member family has current Safe Environment Training through their home parish.  The Diocese of Phoenix will allow you to download a copy of the completion certificate from the training website at https://phoenix.cmgconnect.org/.  Please attach your downloaded certificate or a screenshot of the certificate below. Please ensure that the document includes a full name and date. Your membership will not be approved without proof of current Safe Environment Training dated July 1, 2025 or later OR have an expiration date of July 1, 2026 or later.
